Silsila Infinite Qawwali

Made for the Manchester Asian Arts Triennial 2011. Projected onto a circle of sugar on the floor of the gallery. Concept by Tasawar Bashir and Brian Duffy Audio/Visual instrument by Chris Plant Performance recorded live at Jodrell Bank ObservatoryNov 2011, ending a 2 month installation there where the piece was played by incoming radio telescope data. Inspired by the Sufi poem Conference of the Birds, vocal samples from Nusrat Ali Fatah Khan with permission from Oriental Star. Other sounds are from cosmic telescope data, made audible by Tim OBrien, Manchester University Performed By Brian Duffy, Tasawar Bashir, and Tim OBrien.
